MCCSN Support Meeting HAS Changed

New Date: Thursday, April 2, 2015

Everyone is encouraged to come enjoy the fellowship and light refreshments.

Guest speaker:  Mary Jo Graham

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the MCCSN office, 110 East Lauderdale St., Tullahoma

Guest speaker to share experience as caregiver                                                                                                                                                                               Mary Jo Gunter Graham grew up in Shelbyville and attended MTSU.  She recently wrote a book titled When He Sends Redbirds, Walking Through Emotions as a Caregiver.    In 2012, Mary Jo says her life changed when she had to leave her family and move into her parents’ home to take care of her dad when her mother broke both legs, had two surgeries, and was admitted to the nursing home for rehab.  She writes about leaving her own home and the daily struggles with her father, who had a very set schedule and knew how he wanted things.  Her emotions ran high from anger to guilt to loneliness and she came to realize that she did not have to feel guilty.  The book is really about the emotions of being a caregiver and how to relieve the pressure and not about how to be a caregiver.  Mary Jo is extremely honest about her emotions, thoughts, and the ups and downs of her caregiving months by sharing entries from her journal and from her favorite devotional, “Jesus Calling”, by Sarah Young.                                                                                                                                                                              Her hope and prayer is her experience brings laughter, tears and  encouragement to other caregivers   and that the feelings of guilt, shame and disappointment will wash away from the caregiver who is struggling with feelings they never anticipated.

Mary Jo says that when she needed  God the most, He was faithful, He even sent redbirds!

Your presence is requested at the  support meeting!
